Theory of nonlinear ac responses of inhomogeneous two-component composite films

چکیده
Chemical deposition techniques as well as diffusing techniques can be used to produce inhomogeneous composite films. We put forth a theory to investigate the nonlinear ac responses of a model graded film. We find that the responses are strongly dependent on the gradation profile and the thickness of the film, due to the local field effect. Thus, it seems possible to real-time-monitor the gradation profile and the thickness of the film by measuring the nonlinear ac response of inhomogeneous composite films. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. Stabilization of Electrostatically Actuated Micro-pipe Conveying Fluid Using Parametric Excitation
This paper investigates the parametric excitation of a micro-pipe conveying fluid suspended between two symmetric electrodes. Electrostatically actuated micro-pipes may become unstable when the exciting voltage is greater than the pull-in value. It is demonstrated that the parametric excitation of a micro-pipe by periodic (ac) voltages may have a stabilizing effect and permit an increase of the...
متن کاملNonlinear alternating current responses of dipolar fluids.
The frequency-dependent nonlinear dielectric increment of dipolar fluids in nonpolar fluids is often measured by using a stationary relaxation method in which two electric fields are used: The static direct current (dc) field of high strength causing the dielectric nonlinearity, and the probing alternating current (ac) field of low strength and high frequency. When a nonlinear composite is subj...

In this study, the effect of finite strain on bending of the geometrically nonlinear of micro laminated composite Euler-Bernoulli beam based on Modified Couple Stress Theory (MCST) is studied in thermal environment. The Green-Lagrange strain tensor according to finite strain assumption and the principle of minimum potential energy is applied to obtain governing equation of motion and boundary c...
متن کاملDimensional crossover in the effective second-harmonic generation of films of random dielectrics
The effective nonlinear response of films of random composites consisting of a binary composite with nonlinear particles randomly embedded in a linear host is theoretically and numerically studied. A theoretical expression for the effective second-harmonic generation susceptibility, incorporating the thickness of the film, is obtained by combining a modified effective-medium approximation with ...
متن کاملElectrokinetic behavior of two touching inhomogeneous biological cells and colloidal particles: effects of multipolar interactions.
We present a theory to investigate electrokinetic behavior, namely, electrorotation and dielectrophoresis under alternating current (ac) applied fields for a pair of touching inhomogeneous colloidal particles and biological cells. These inhomogeneous particles are treated as graded ones with physically motivated model dielectric and conductivity profiles. The mutual polarization interaction bet...
